GIVE YOUR LIVER SOME LOVE

It's rare, that I find anyone who's labs don't indicate that their liver needs a little bit of love! Why is that? Because we live in a world full of toxins in our air, food, soil and homes.  God didn't create our livers to have to filter such high amounts of toxins. So we all need to support our livers! 

Our liver is our "filter" organ. It's main roles are to remove toxins and turn food into energy. 


If your liver is sluggish, you might experience:
  • headaches
  • sensitivity to chemicals, scents, medications, supplements, alcohol and caffeine
  • fatigue
  • bloating
  • hormone imbalances
  • skin issues
  • digestive discomfort
  • PMS
  • sinus pain
  • bad breath/oral health 

 Tips to give your liver some love: 
1- Remove toxins (see below for tips)
*Avoid alcohol, buy organic produce, meat and fats.
*Upgrade your self care products and cleaners to have less harmful ingredients. Use consumer guides from Environmental Working Group. 


2- Castor oil
*Purchase organic castor oil in a dark, glass bottle. (I like Pura Dor from Vitacost or Queen of the Thrones brands). Rub 1/2 tsp on your liver (right front side below rib cage) or use a castor oil pack at night before bed. Start with 1-2 x a week and work up to nightly use.

WHAT'S HIJACKING YOUR HORMONES?

Hormones are complicated things! And absolutely necessary to be in balance to feel good. While there are many things that could be hijacking your hormones, endocrine disruptors on a major one. Let's take a deeper look.

​Xenoestrogens are specific endocrine disruptors that are false estrogens that mimic estrogen. Because of this, xenoestrogens fit in the same receptor sites as estrogen which block the estrogen from being received and can increase the levels of estrogen in the body. Over time, xenoestrogens not only block receptor sites but can damage them as well. 

This specific class of endocrine disruptors are found in conventional dairy, microwave use, plastics (especially when heated), non-organic soy and fragrances.

There are several ways to support healthy xenoestrogen levels in the body. One is to remove the amounts entering the body by avoiding the previously mentioned sources. Another way is to help the body break down and remove the current levels.
  • Flaxmeal- binds with estrogen to help remove it from the body
  • Liver support- the liver removes excess hormones. Milk thistle or dandelion products are great for the liver.
  • Cruciferous veggies- these contain diiodolymethane or DIM which improves estrogen metabolism

EMFs or Electromagnetic Fields are a physical field produced by electrically charged objects extending indefinitely throughout space.

ower lines, cellphones, microwaves, Wi-Fi routers, computers, and other appliances send out a stream of invisible energy waves. Electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are produced anywhere electricity is used, including at home and in the workplace. Radiation exists across the electromagnetic spectrum. 

HARMFUL EFFECTS OF RADIATION FROM EMFs
  • Brain cancer
  • Salivary gland tumors
  • Behavioral problems
  • Migraines and vertigo
  • Damaged sperm
  • Decreased brain activity

WAYS TO REDUCE MAGNETIC EXPOSURE
  • Use battery clocks in place of electric clocks near the bed
  • Turn off bedroom circuit breakers or Wi-Fi at night
  • Keep cordless phones, cell phones, and wireless devices out of the bedroom or on airplane mode
  • Use a headset (only when talking) or speaker phone
  • Keep phone away from your body (don't wear it on your belt, on your ear or put it in your pocket)
  • Text more, talk less
  • Call when the signal is strong. There is increased radiation when the signal is weak
  • Limit children's phone use. They absorb twice as much radiation.
  • Turn off device when not in use
  • Use wired devices if possible
  • Increase distance from devices

Deep breathing calms the body, helps it feel safe and counteracts the body's "fight or flight" response. It releases tension which can improve things such as high blood pressure, headaches, muscle tension and sleep. It can also help lower cortisol which can help with weight loss, emotional balance and exhaustion.

2- CAN IMPROVE DIGESTION
Constipation, diarrhea, indigestion and a hiatal hernia can result from tension and anxiousness. Deep breathing can improve the gut brain connection, improve physical responses to stress and release tension in the solar plexus.  

3- REMOVAL OF TOXINS
Our lungs is one of our detox organs. 70% of toxins can be released if we are breathing properly. This makes our body and our brains healthy. 

How to Deep Breath
Deep breathing strengthens your diaphragm and allows your lungs to fully expand creating better oxygen exchange and strengthening core muscles. 

*Sit in a comfortable position and place your hand on your stomach
*With your mouth closed, breath in and allow your lungs to fully expand. The hand on your stomach should move out. 
*Hold your breath for a count of 7. 
*Slowly release your breath while blowing air out from your mouth until you have completely exhaled. 
*Continue deep breathing for 5-10 minutes

You can also do square breathing for extra support for the nervous system. 
*Breathe in for 4 seconds
*Hold for 4 seconds
*Breathe out for 4 seconds
*Hold for 4 seconds

Rosemary Cedarwood Hair Conditioner
Fill an 8 oz glass pump bottle 3/4 of the way with apple cider vinegar. Add 5 drops of Rosemary and 5 drops of Cedarwood essential oils. Fill remaining bottle with water. 

To use: Pump conditioner on hair after shampooing and leave in for 1-2 minutes and then rinse. 

Blue Tansy Facial Scrub
In a small container mix 1/2 cup of almond meal and 1/2 cup of oat flour. Add 7 drops of Blue Tansy essential oil (or any oil of your choice for skin, although Blue Tansy smells the best and is my favorite). Massage well to incorporate oil into flours. 

To use: Use approximately 2 tsp of scrub and add a small amount of water to form a paste the consistency of baby cereal. Rub on face to exfoliate for a minute and then rinse well. 

Lavender Shave Gel
In a mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup of olive oil, 1/4 of aloe vera gel and 6 drops of Lavender essential oil. Whisk until uniformly combined. Using a funnel, pour into 4 oz glass pump bottle.
